Glutinous Rice Cakes
Also known as "New Year cake," it is made of glutinous rice with sweetened bean paste and cooked dates, and is eaten together with finely cut red and green preserved fruits or haw jelly, as well as having sugar sprinkled on it. This is also a favorite of the Hut people, one of whom, by the name of Zhang, is shown in the photo, whose family engaged in the trade for generations. Another kind of snack called Aiwowo was often sold on the same stand of the glutinous-rice cake. It is a steamed glutinous rice Ball with sweetened bean past or sesame filling, mostly sold in spring and summer.
